SILVER MELTDOWN TO SHOWCASE HOTTEST TRENDS
“Ladies only” runway and trunk show slated for Nov. 16
ROCKPORT, Texas (Nov. 8, 2024) — Now in its seventh year, Silver Meltdown, the “ladies only” fashion event of the fall season, returns to Rockport Center of the Arts on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Held at The Rockport Conference Center (The ROCC) and themed this year to Saturday Night Fever, the evening kicks off with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. followed by the runway show at 7 p.m. in the Randall Ewing Kemper Hall. Models will showcase dozens of handcrafted, original pieces of jewelry from metalsmiths Teenya Barnard, Danya de Leon, Diane Johnson, Kim Knifechief and Alejandro Sifuentes, all RCA Member Artists. The show also features locally sourced fashions from Bay Window, with Catey Arnold, Elena Rodz, Kimmi Moake, Laura Adams and Marian Kleine, members of the local arts community, serving as models.
All items featured in the runway show are available for purchase and each artist will have a booth with additional items available as well. Guests can get a sneak peek with a video preview found on the RCA YouTube channel.
"I developed the idea for a jewelry-focused ladies-only runway following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in 2017,” said Luis Purón, executive director of RCA. “This community of artists is like no other in the country in its support of the arts, and the artists’ support of one another. We are fortunate to have an amazing lineup of renowned metalsmithing artists each year, so many of whom live and create their life’s work here in Texas. Their jewelry creations are truly one-of-a-kind.”
The event generally draws more than 200 attendees and remaining seats are limited. RCA Members may reserve a seat for no charge; tickets for non-members are available for purchase at $50. For more information and to register, or purchase a ticket, go online to rockportatcenter.com, or call (361) 450-8033.
