Learn the basics of working with encaustic medium and collage. We will experiment with the additive and subtractive qualities of creating with hot wax. This introductory workshop will let you experiment with a variety of techniques and materials and create some finished encaustic collages that use wax to beautifully enhance the look of the papers beneath. We will create textures, transfer images, and embed paper or items with this most versatile of mediums.

Learn basic bead embroidery and beadweaving techniques while creating a beautiful mermaid pendant necklace. This project includes a variety of techniques and stitches, giving students a good overview of the many amazing design possibilities that can be achieved with seed beads.

Join Artist’s and twin sister’s, Karen Rester and Sharen Chatterton in this fun walk across the blank pages of your Art Junk Journal, if you don’t have the Junk Journal, a visual journal (140lb paper) will also work.

In this workshop, we will lead you step by step through a book making technique that will allow you to create a handmade journal using different types of paper you may have lying around; this will include, card board, junk mail, vintage papers, old magazines, watercolor paper and art paper. We call this a “Art Junk Journal”.
